Most of us have viewed the local tv commercials informing us about the millions in cash grant money available for students around the nation. The government has different cash grants available to assist college students with their educational expenses.

Types of Free Grant Money For College

Federal Pell Grants

Fortunately for students and parents, most Federal Aid packages do not take your credit history into account.

Can I Qualify For Free Grant Money for College… really?

Pell Grants have been around for a long time. This type of grant is available to individuals who demonstrate financial need and can document this need.If the college student (or the student’s parents… depending on the college student’s age) are economically disadvantaged by the U.S. government’s standards, then receiving a Pell Grant is almost automatic. Almost. As with any form of Federal Student Aid, your economic situation has to be demonstrated through the correct documentation and fall within the proper guidelines.

A Pell Grant does not have to be repaid. Currently, the max Pell Grant amount is $5,350 per year. The maximum amount can change each award year and depends on program funding. The amount of funding you receive from the Pell Grant will depend largely on your financial need, your cost of education, whether you are a full-time or part-time student, and more.

What to Do When Free Grant Money for College Just Isn’t Enough

Because your economic status plays a role in determining your eligibility for a Pell Grant, you may or many not qualify, and if you do, the grant may not cover the entire cost of your college degree. For this reason, the majority of college students often consider student loans as a viable alternative to help cover the cost of their education.

One of the most common types of Student Loans are Stafford Loans, which come in two types: Subsidized and Unsubsidized. And the good news is, Stafford Loans do not take a student’s or the parents’ credit history into account when determining eligibility.

One of the most common student loans is the Stafford Subsidized Loan. The term comes from the fact that the government pays any interest that accrues during the period the loan is not being repaid. That period is typically while the student is carrying a half-time or greater load of classes, and for the first six months after leaving school.

An unsubsidized Stafford Loan, however, requires that college students pay for any interest accrued on the outstanding principle. The good news is, if you are strapped for cash while you are in college, you do not have to pay your interest payments, but they will be added to the loan principle.

What Are Federal Perkins Loans and Do I Want One?

Another type of “no credit check required” Federal Loan is the Perkins Loans. The Perkins Loan is awarded to undergraduate and graduate students with exceptional financial need. The Perkins Loan differs from the Stafford Loan in that it is deemed a “campus-based” loan program, meaning the school acts as the lender using a limited amount of funds provided by the Federal government.

How Much Am I Eligible For?

The Stafford Loan programs allows dependent undergrad students to receive between $5,500 and $7,500 annually. Since independent undergrad students are, by definition, independent, they can get more loan money: between $9,500 – $12,500 each year. If you are a graduate degree student, each year you can receive up to $20,500.

Under the Perkins Loan Program, a student can borrow between $5,500 and $8,000 for each year of study depending on the degree level. The amount you receive depends on when you apply, your financial need, and the funding level at the school, but the loan carries a very low interest rate of 5%.

Funding Your Degree

Obviously, every student’s situation is different. Although many individuals will be able to receive free grant money for college because of their economic status, some students will instead have to take advantage of low-rate student loans to fund their college tuition costs and expenses. Although we would all rather get free grant money for college (and many students do qualify), in the end, the most important thing is that you are able to find a college or university that offers a Financial Aid Package that will help you realize your dream of attaining a college degree.

To discover the best way to pay for your education, find Colleges that Connect You with an Aid Package or Free Grant Money For College

Sanjeev Jha asked:

Children are the future of every country. They need attention and care, no matter whichever family they are coming from. Special attention is needed to be paid to kids coming from economically backward families. But the cause of the children takes a backseat often before the governments (especially in the third world countries where the governments have to deal with thousand of humanitarian problems). However, if the state administration neglects it that does not mean that we also neglect it. Individuals need to come forward with the willingness to work for the cause of helping the children.

How one should go about helping the children, especially those coming from economically backward families? The first thing that should be done is to help them get and complete quality education. Once this procedure is started every other thing becomes easier. As our social and professional institutions value the education most when one starts earning one’s living. If you have got the proper educations then one have all the opportunities in the world to have a decent living. So, it will be the best way of helping the children to establish such schools where the children of the poor people will be provided free education.

For realizing this plan for real, charitable organizations need to be established where those people who have got everything in life needs to make their contribution to work for helping the children. And with these contributions the organizations need to fund or establish schools to make the education and the entire infrastructure to support the education of the poor children absolutely free. Along with teaching the modern subjects, the children need to be given all the ethical and moral education so that they do not grow up into culturally devoid adults.

This simple way of helping the children by making available to them proper education, will help in building a healthy society and eradicating poverty. Make your contribution to Guru Nanak Garib Niwaj Education Society, which is working for achieving the same goal.

Mike Lesly asked:

Getting a College Degree can bring upon a mountain of debt. There are ton of financial aid available for you to get funding for your college education, but be advised that there are also many college money scams around. These scammers are looking for any chances to cheat college students desperately seeking financial aid. You should be very careful when hunting for financial aid for college to avoid falling into the traps of college money scams.

The big money college scams are the Federal or personal loans scams, and the second scam is related to fake scholarships or free money that students don’t have to repay. Most frequently, the scammers mail their offerings directly to students’ or parents’ homes, asking for money up front, customarily they are going to ask you to pay for some forms of processing costs before they pay out the fund. According to the Federal Trade Commission enquiry on financial support, scholarship or loan scams on average cheat people out of $50 to $1,000 when paying for these application fees. The results shows that over 100,000 families are being swindled annually and is still rising. This situation may become worse due to today’s liquidity problems, the college money scams may drastically increase because less lenders being in the market, and more students in need of financial help.

So, the question is how does one recognize a scam? Occasionally , it cab be tough to see the difference between the legitimate loan / scholarship suppliers than the scammers. Try and remember this, the rule of thumb is to avoid any offers that just appear too good to be true, and keep a look out for words with literal errors or businesses that don’t leave any contact info.

There are numerous college money scammers that mail letters on loans offers using letterheads that look really like the Department of Education. They fake the letterhead to make them look very real. The reality is that the Department of Education doesn’t solicit consumers to borrow money, so any mail or email received from any government agency should be illegitimate and very well be a scam. Remember that, scholarships and grants should not carry any up front costs.

There are plenty of methods to acquire money for you or your childrens’ college education. Always be conscious of college money scams, they are around to take your money. When you receive any offers either loans, scholarships, or grants that look to be too good or carry the above signs, just avoid them at all costs. Believe me, you will yourself a lot of head aches later on.

Caron Young asked:

Every borrower borrows money with the good intention of paying monthly installments to clear the debt. However, many factor influence regular monthly payments of debts by any borrower. At time the reason is within the control of the borrower but at some other time, reason is beyond the control of borrower. Therefore even with the good intention of paying the dues, he or she may not be able to pay on time. Such defaults keep on adding in the credit history which ultimately reduces the overall credit rating or score of any borrower. The worst nightmare in this case is that once, you get a bad credit rating, no lender wants to offer you any loan, considering the risk associated with offering you any loan. This risk is reflected through your bad credit rating.

However, now there are lenders who offer loans to people with bad credit ratings. There are lenders who specialize in arranging loans for people with bad credit rating . Loans for people with bad credit rating is available even for people with county court judgments (CCJ), bankruptcy or defaults on a loan will stay on file for six years; bankruptcies and CCJs are a matter of public record, with details held by the courts. Loans for people with bad credit rating come in both secured and unsecured forms.

In case of secured loans for people with bad credit rating, the borrower has to offer collateral against the loan borrower, which reduces the risk for lender. Whereas in case of unsecured loans, no collateral is required therefore unsecured loans are considered risky for lenders. To compensate against this increased risk in unsecured loans, lenders charge a little higher rate of interest than that of secured loans. Therefore, secured loan is always cheaper than that of unsecured loans.

Loan amount depends upon borrower’s profile which in turn considers the income and expenses of borrower, the amount he can pay comfortably every month, previous track record etc. Similarly, repayment duration and amount of monthly installments vary according to the loan amount, the amount that borrower can pay comfortably every month etc. Rate of interest varies according to the loan amount, period of loan and whether the loan is secured or unsecured.

Loans for people with bad credit ratings offer two very important advantages to borrowers-First, meet the expenses for which loan borrowed and second, the borrower with bad credit rating gets a new chance to improve his ratings by paying regularly.

Bryan Burbank asked:

With the economy getting worse and gas prices on the rise, do you find yourself paying more on your credit card than you actually can afford. Like most of us we have seen the price of everything go up and the only way to afford the stuff we need is to charge it. Then we get into a situation that our monthly bills seem to add up to more than your we actually make. This is a problem for all of us because it does not allow us to be debt free.

Learn How To: Get Debt Relief Now

If you are in this situation don’t worry because you can get help from the Government. The Government gives away money every year in the form of Grants. The most important thing to remember is that they distribute lots of money but people who get the grants first are the ones who are the most needy. When you are filling out forms for obtaining a grant you need to make sure that you let them know this is the only way you are able to pay off the debt.

Learn How to Get a : Government Grants to Eliminate Debt

There is the other option of getting a loan from the bank for a consolidation loan. The big problem is that they require perfect credit to qualify for a unsecured loan and most of us have missed a payment or two and can not qualify. Your other option is a secured loan were you will have to come up with collateral before the bank will loan you the money. You will also have interest added to the loan so in the long run it will cost you more money.

Artur Victoria asked:

Legislation concerning conditions in the labor market and working life is also applicable to schools. The Law assures employees of the right to information and negotiations before major alterations to school activities are decided on. Various enactments concerning the entitlement of employees to leave of absence -for child care or in order to study, for example – also apply to school staff.

The legislation contains more detailed provisions concerning the organization of teaching, the constitution of various conferences, the duties of headmasters and teaching staff, the organization of school management and teaching appointments and eligibility for the same, decision-making powers in various matters and rights of appeal against particular decisions.

The Education law includes a provision making it the Government’s business to issue a Curriculum for compulsory schools. This curriculum is the instrument whereby the community controls schools and their staff. It is divided into two parts, a General Part and a set of related commentaries. The General Part lays down the goals and guidelines of school activities. It also includes time schedules, time schedule regulations and syllabi.

Goals and Guidelines are based on the formulation of goals to be found in the Education law. It enlarges on these goals and indicates the guidelines for the local planning activities of local education authorities.

Individual schools, work units and class committees. In certain cases the Education Law contains more detailed provisions. That the Guidelines, especially where decision-making powers and organization are concerned. In cases of this kind, the Guidelines and the Law have to be implemented conjointly. The time schedules and the time schedule regulations indicate the time per pupil which is normally to be devoted to different subjects or groups of subjects at different school levels.

The syllabi describe, under the heading of Goals and Main items, the focus of teaching and the content of different subjects. The General Part of the Curriculum contains syllabi for the subject’s common to all pupils, and it also includes syllabi for English and French (as second foreign language), home languages and Portuguese as a foreign language, together with guidelines for the typing lessons which are a compulsory ingredient of the pupils’ training in skills.

The Curriculum also includes extensive commentaries to support local development work. These commentaries are published, revised and updated on continuous bases. They do not include any regulations as such. Instead they are intended to describe current problems and difficulties as experienced by people working in international schools, and on this basis to discuss alternative methods of tackling these problems and difficulties and working in the direction indicated by the goals laid down for schools. Experience and research findings are successively fed back into revised version of the commentaries, and various goal conflicts are elucidated.

Reports on research, experimental activities, everyday school experiences and current problems can provide a starting point for discussions and decisions concerning different working methods, subject matter selection and forms of organization. Together with information, in-service training, local development work and teaching material development, the commentaries should be able to make an active contribution towards the renewal of content, working methods and organization.

In this way the commentaries should be able to provide inspiration for the working plans and development curricula which are to be drawn up locally within each school management.

The commentaries deal with problems specific to individual subjects and with alternative working methods. They are also intended to shed light on various salient questions concerning the internal work of schools, above all by furnishing information and suggestions in the following fields:

-working plans

-development of basic skills

-evaluation within the class, the work unit, the school management.

-assistance to pupils in difficulties

-free study options

-the pupils’ own responsibility for school work

-parental participation in schools

Syed Ashraful Ferdous asked:

[All rights reserved]

It is very much relevant to state that, the phenomena of different harassment of the authority and the teachers towards the student are not uncommon. Observing the conditions, it seems that the said vice-chancellors have been acting as the secretaries of the universities’ proctorial committee and their relatives, like brother-in-laws, father-in-laws, etc. It is mandatory to remove the autonomy of the universities in order to free the country from that malicious ghosts, called ‘teachers’, suited with gentlemen’s cloth and in their outlook very smart.

Though apparently they do not seem to be professional politician, they provide the concept of non-Islamic cultural, political, diplomatic behavior to the leaders and workers of different political parties and their outlets in this country, as they have gained these while they were abroad due to obtain a higher degree. Basically those teachers are intended to scholarship providing countries, we should inform the countrymen regarding the cruel and wild behavior of the different species, which contradict with the follower of Islamic ideology in this country. To protect the nation from their hostility and anger it is necessary to establish a strong ‘chain of command’ every level of the public universities.

The autonomy was given to the universities with the point of view ease the education and research. Thereafter the teachers have got a safe haven and by utilizing this scope many of them have been cheating, steeling the intellectual properties and cons pirating against the patriot politicians. They have turned the position of the ‘Head of the Department, into ‘Chairman of the Department”, and therefore ignore the system of responsibility, degrade the reasonable demands of the students, and give employment and certificates in lieu of money. Everybody of them think themselves as ‘autonomous body’. Then to keep their autocratic activities free from thorn, they squeezed the admission opportunity of the students coming from the family of businessmen, lawyers, highly educated guardians and government officers. Instead they grasp a large portion of seats by providing additional quotas to the children of the teachers, officers, other staffs and former students of the universities, local people and the less-educated and non-respondent farmers.

The teachers residing inside the universities have been conducting notorious diplomatic activities outside the campus and in other districts by garrulity and hiding their actual identity. To remain above the periphery of law, they have been motivating the law-makers in favor of them. At the same time they influence the law makers to create necessary laws against the government officers, lawyers and opposition politicians. Beside these, violating the rules and regulations, they have been influencing continuously different organizations of the Government to work in favor of them. So, the members of the academic council may be given the partial independence, in order to producing the syllabi of academic curricular. But, with this excuse, to continue the autonomy of the university will be the same thing as to retain the different organs of living body paralyzed.

If the different organs of a living body are cut-up from the nervous system while retaining the flow of the blood uninterrupted, the whole body seems to be alive for a while -this is true; but that discrete living organs, disobeying the command of the brain, vibrate randomly, whose resultant progress is zero. At a certain time that organs become motionless, and the active and excessive lively brain can not precede the body to the destination by trying vivaciously.

It is needed to review and analyze in detail the matter of giving the power to the teachers for directing police operation and trial to keep the law and order of the massive population of the universities whereas they are devoid of overall knowledge and any certificate of law. Law is regarded as one of the prior subjects among the subjects learned in the traditional general education. Law encourages every people to stay at the society and in the state in a peaceful, usual and regulated manner. A person ignorant in law but specialized in other subject is like a blind armed person, who is only eager to keep his own benefits. To see the persons in the proctor committee the much prevalent proverb is recalled to us: “Where the learned hesitate, the ignorant runs faster”.

It should be mentioned that the students coming to the universities for higher education, especially those who are not a son or daughter of any teacher, officer, or supporting staff, usually remain away from their guardians and relations. And the cadre force of the universities under the name of the ‘Proctor Committee” utilize this weak point of the students to the full extent. The university authorities is enjoying extra facilities, showing the excuse of autonomy, so that their proctor committees encounter themselves beyond any accountability and they conduct uncontrolled and autocratic trial upon a large part of the total population in parallel to the existing courts in the country. But the juries of the higher courts of the government are independent to conduct the trials (Constitution- 116A). So, in this existing situation, it is contradictory with the constitution of the Peoples’ Republic of Bangladesh to provide that power to the proctor committees of the universities. The university authorities often practice very prejudiced custom by including only the teachers one-sidedly in the proctor committees. (Any teacher of the Department of Law is rarely present there). Such decisions and activities bring a lot of misery to the students residing at the universities for studies and their guardians.

To control the police force appointed in the campuses to maintain their comprehensive security and calmness, to observe and inspect the legal condition and discipline, and to conduct sudden trial (which the members of the proctor committee often do) magistrates should be appointed and controlled by the government in the universities so that the justice is re-established by impartial consideration. I draw the attention of the conscious, educated citizens, experts, policy makers, higher court and the government itself.

To protect the repetitions of the injustice events taking place in the campuses, the proctor committees should be abolished; and an independent magistracy activity separated from the university administration should be initiated. Moreover the motionless and inactive disciplinary committees should be run again. To escape the students from the harassment in the newly appeared colonies with the name “university’, and to prevent the flourish and dispersal of the attacker and autocrats brought up here and working at different levels the respective ordinance must be refined.

Mainly the presence of the prevalent proctor committees, i.e. the enjoyment of autonomy by the universities, is the clear expression of parallel governance. So its sooner abolition should be confirmed. At the same time, in context of the laws and disciplinary matter within the universities, it is necessary to establish the control of the higher court of the country. It is because the learned, conscious, and civil society of the country should not expect any raise of undesired and competitor parallel evil power with the power equal to that of the court upon the well and scoured politics and the sovereignty of the country.

kimberly valerio asked:

High school days are usually the time when you can fully enjoy your student life, and after you graduate, it’s time for you to go to college. But the truth is, many students are unable to go to college because of certain financial issues. This however, should not hinder you from pursuing higher education. You have options, and all you have to do is to discover what options are available for would-be college students like you.

Having a brilliant career is probably what most students are dreaming about and you can only achieve this if you are able to graduate from college. With all the financial constraints surrounding you, don’t give up easily and check these six options for you to choose from,

1. scholarships

2. grants

3. loans

4. get a part-time job

5. join community programs and avail of their services

6. joining the army

Among these six options, the first two are usually the likely choice of almost any student. You can find scholarships and grants in almost any part of the globe. Perhaps the reason why many students prefer these options is because they don’t have to repay the money that they’ll be using through college.

This is truly an advantage compared to acquiring a loan. A loan needs to be repaid at a specific date and time while scholarships/grants are given to students free.

Talk to your high school guidance counselor, because he/she might know of particular institutions or universities which offer college scholarships and grants. Applicants with artistic, athletic, and scientific talents are also given special scholarships especially those who are in need of serious financial resources. Also, check for online databases that cater to college scholarships which the public can browse freely.

Many students may think that a grant is similar to a college scholarship. It is different in the sense that with a grant, you are required to submit a proposal for a possible future project. And if your proposal is quite good, you can find a sponsor which can fund your way through college.

Scholarships on the other hand, are given to students based on their achievements. So, college scholarships are much easier to obtain than grants.

Any way you choose, you still have to meet their standards. And if the institution or university decides that you are a qualified applicant, then that is only the time that you can enjoy the benefits of being a scholar.

When you are finally awarded with a scholarship or grant, be responsible and do everything you can to maintain your good standing in class. Oftentimes, scholarships and grants require you to maintain certain ratings while you’re in college. You must also be aware that they can also terminate your scholarship/grant if they see it fit.

The money that you’ll get from the scholarship should be used to fund your way to college; like payment of tuition fees and other school fees. Take advantage of your situation and make the most out of your free education. Don’t waste the chance that has been given to you.

The career that you’ve wanted all these years is just waiting for you. So take chances, life is full of many obstacles; but if you are hardworking, diligent, and patient, you can go through your college life with ease.

freddy ngiam asked:

There are many advantages associated with home tutoring your child. As the latest trends show, many families are opting to it than sending their children to the traditional schools. The advantages associated with homeschooling include:

l Flexible schedules

Home tuition enables a child and their tutor to have a flexible schedule. The child does not need to wake up until the set time for the lessons. Your child can start homeschooling at 10 am or later depending on your preferred time on your schedule. You may schedule your child’s home tuitions as you see fit and with materials or subjects that may not even be available in a normal traditional school. You can tailor the school curriculum to suit your needs and to the interests of your child.

l Individual attention for your charge.

In the normal traditional school settings, fifty to sixty students are bunched together and are assigned to one teacher for the whole class. This being the case, the teacher can not devote a hundred percent attention to one child since it won’t be fair to the other children in the class. This is in addition to the fact that it is quite impossible to provide individual attention to all students. With home tuitions, your child gets individual attention that they need. If your child is weak in a certain area, let us say, Mathematics, you could devote more time and energies into it.

Your child’s home tuition schedule can be adjusted to cater for the deficiency .This can only be possible with home tuitions as opposed to traditional schooling.

l No peer pressure

With home tuitions, the child does not need to prove their abilities to the other children. The parent is able to understand their child more deeply and therefore can be able to plan the learning programs accordingly. The parent or the tutor can change the curriculum to suit the learning style of their child. Some children learn better by reading while others do it by writing. Other children do it better from seeing or experiencing things physically. The child is free from negative peer influences.

l Family Activities

The learning can be extended to the family as a whole. This includes field trips and experiments. On top of this, the child receives more quality time with their parents meaning that they are more time for family bonding.

l Religion Learning

This is a sensitive issue on every child’s life, thus most traditional schools shun away from it. With homeschooling or home tuitions, a tutor or a parent can take control over the moral and religious learning of the child without undue attention to themselves. The parent can impact their religious ideologies and deep beliefs into the child mind rather than let the school to do it.

So, if you ever thought that homeschooling has more disadvantages than advantages, think again- the good things far outweigh the bad ones. Give it a try and see your child educational progress improve dramatically.
